Motto: Let the Hidden Bloom

May is the fifth Guardian of the year.

In Tolvoria, she watches over the young world as it begins to grow. April has brought the spring rain and returned colour to the earth, but much of what is growing is still hidden — waiting for the right moment to unfold.

May creates the gentle warmth that encourages the growing world forward. But her most important task is helping hidden life emerge, allowing leaves to unfold, flowers to open and everything that has quietly been growing to finally reveal itself.

She knows that some of the most beautiful things begin where no one can see them.

When May’s work is complete, what she has helped to bloom can be passed through The Heart of the Year, ready to receive the long summer light.

KEEPER OF THE FIRST BLOOM

Every year, May tends Tolvoria’s first great bloom. From it, the hidden growth of spring begins to reveal itself, filling the world with leaves, flowers and new life.

“What grows in secret will bloom when its time comes.”

May is one of the Twelve Guardians of Tolvoria, each responsible for something the next Guardian needs.
